Balance is Health
We are more out-of-balance than ever before. This lack of balance is destroying our health. Our standard-of-care quest for health pushes us even farther away from our goal of health. But to regain our health we must understand what health is. Is it the lack of disease? If you are suffering from some health issue, like cancer, it would be wonderful just to be free of the pain and debilitating issues that cancer causes us to live with. You could feel healthy in remission or, better yet, cured of the cancer.
But there is a bigger picture, a broader picture.
I believe that health is better described as an abundance of energy – the energy to take advantage of all that life has to offer. Remember that elementary school-aged kid you once were, running and jumping and laughing and having a great time just being alive. You had so much energy you had to do something to use up all that energy. That is the picture of health.
Health issues can make that playful kid seem like a distant, unattainable memory. Humans are designed to have an abundance of energy. To be healthy, to have abundant energy, every system in the body must be in balance. If something forces a loss of balance the whole body can be negatively affected.
Let’s say that kid running in the park kicked a rock and broke his toe. Let’s also say this happened in the stone age without an emergency room doctor to fix his toe. If he was unlucky and the toe didn’t heal properly, every step he took would cause him pain. He would step lightly on that foot to avoid the pain. This would cause an imbalance in his walk. His body would accommodate and adjust to make his new walk easier. This could result in a pelvic tilt or rotation that would cause a displaced spine to maintain balance. This could cause pinched nerves resulting in a loss of systemic balance, and the whole body would be out of synch.
Recent discoveries show how to balance the whole body. Receptors throughout the entire body check and help maintain this balance. For example, we know that antioxidants play an important role in maintaining health. Our bodies make antioxidants naturally, but for many reasons we have become deficient and oxidative stress has caused chronic inflammation, leading to all kinds of dis-ease.
The oxidation process is of extreme importance in our body’s function. It is the byproduct of using fuel that runs our body and without it, all our muscles could not function and our heart would stop – we could no longer live.
So, it is this balance of the body’s systems that is important. Every system in our body works in a similar fashion to maintain balance.
Endocannabinoid System Maintains Balance
The newly discovered balancing system is called the endocannabinoid system. The discovery of the endocannabinoid system has been called the most profound discovery for the promotion of health, ever. This discovery rivals the discovery of antibiotics and the advances of sterile surgical procedures.
Picture a scale with oxidation on one side and anti-oxidation on the other. If the scale is balanced we have homeostasis, or health. Homeostasis or balance is required for health.
What was discovered is that all vertebrates, animals with spinal columns, manufacture cannabinoids naturally. These cannabinoids are called endocannabinoids because they are manufactured in the body. These endocannabinoids work in conjunction with cannabinoid receptors found cells of many of the body’s systems. Like a key in a lock, endocannabinoids couple with the cannabinoid receptors to help maintain balance.
If we are deficient of cannabinoids, we are like the stone-age kid with the broken toe. We have many imbalances leading to various anti-health issues. In today’s environment with our stressful fast-paced lives, and the pollution that bombards us, our endocannabinoid system is overwhelmed and cannot keep up with everything that is pulling us out of balance. This loss of balance causes many lifestyle diseases.
Adding to the problem, we are living in the stone age, medically speaking, regarding the endocannabinoid system. The endocannabinoid system is not taught, or even mentioned, in most medical schools. If doctors are not taught the importance of the endocannabinoid system, how can they help?
CBD Helps Restore Balance
All is not lost however. The largest source, by far, of plant-based cannabinoids is cannibis sativa, a strain of the marijuana plant. By helping add to our body’s natural supply of cannabinoids, marijuana helps restore balance and thus health. That is the reason for all the attention regarding medical marijuana. There have been many studies showing the health benefits of cannibis. There is no longer any doubt that cannibis contributes to our health.
Unfortunately, we live in the stone age as far as laws are concerned. Cannibis is illegal according to U.S. federal law. While many states have legalized medical marijuana, it is still difficult to get. However CBD oil, Cannabidiol, extracted from hemp is legal in all 50 U.S. states, and can be ordered online and delivered to your door.
CBD oil is a major component of the hemp plant, but without THC, the psychoactive component. With no THC, CBD oil from hemp has no mechanism to make you high and has a very high concentration of cannabinoids to help restore your body’s balance.
Balance is not a single issue, rather a whole-body issue. If one system is out of balance, there is a domino-effect on the other systems of the body. With restored balance, single issue diseases like cancer, diabetes, MS, heart disease, etc. disappear. With balance restored, the forces stealing our energy are ejected and health is restored.
